The National Women Commission (NWC) has demanded justice for the victim of the rape incident that occurred some eight years ago and action against the culprit.
The commission made the request to the concerned authority, issuing a press statement on Sunday after a contestant of a beauty pageant made public the incident of rape and sexual abuse against her by the pageant organizer.
The statement read, "The security agency has already arrested the alleged rapist. The Commission would like to draw the attention towards ensuring impartial investigation into the incident and ensuring justice to the victim and action against the perpetrator as per the prevailing law."
Furthermore, the constitutional body has demanded healthcare and security arrangements for the victims. The Commission said that it had adopted a zero-tolerance policy against heinous sexual crimes such as rape.
A probe committee has been formed by the government to look into the case. The Commission further said that it had been coordinating efforts with the victim, government, and security agencies and called for cooperation from all sides for a fair investigation into the case.
